What is VAT?
Value Added Tax (VAT) is an indirect tax that is being introduced by the UAE Government, which will be payable by both business and Individuals.
When will the VAT go into effect and what will be the rates?
VAT will be introduced across the UAE on 1 January 2018 at a standard rate of 5%
How will VAT apply to services provided by Alpha Utilities Management services?
VAT will apply to applicable services at a rate of 5%. Further details regarding VAT application on our products and services will be made available in the coming weeks.
Is it compulsory to pay VAT?
Exceptions to VAT are only by law, and these are published by the Federal Tax Authority. There is a possibility for corporate customers to claim back their VAT payments, provided they have registered for VAT and meet the requirements. How will Alpha Utilities Management Services charge VAT for customers?
From 1st January 2018, all services provided by Alpha Utilities Management Services shall have VAT applied upon the total outstanding for the month, in compliance with the provisions of the law and its Executive Regulations i.e. a Total payment due for a month that is AED 100 will become AED 105 ( Inclusive of 5% tax ).
I am a Business owner. I have registered with the UAE Federal Tax Authority and have received my certificate and Tax Registration Number (TRN). Do I need to share this with Alpha Utilities Management Services L.L.C?
Yes, once you receive your Tax registration number (TRN) you are required to send this to us. This is important for us to update your account details, and ensure that your TRN is reflected on our monthly tax invoice. The inclusion of your Tax Registration Number (TRN) on our bill is required for you to claim back the incurred VAT within your VAT return.

Offer 10% Discount on Consumption Charges for Three Months (March, April, May 2020)

1. Who should I contact for any billing related queries?

2. What happens if there are issues related to my cooling services?

Kindly visit our walk in center for service complaints if prompt response is required. Else, you may choose to drop an email at info@alphautilities.co.ae Please do know that our TAT for responding to any inquiries over the email is 24 business hours.

Most of the time low cooling may simple be a result of lack of servicing on your AC units. We recommend that consult the below checklist to ensure the same. Should you still need any further assistance please feel free to visit our walk-in centre. Between 7:30 Am to 5:30 Pm and we will be happy to assist you with your concern.

3. How do I save on my bill?
Service Your Unit
Some basic maintenance might be all your air conditioner needs and make the unit work 15% harder

Check your vents
We strongly recommend you check your vents and make sure they are all open and more importantly the positioning of the vents. It is always best to point the vents towards the roof or the sides of the room.

Try 24 degrees Celsius
24 degrees Celsius is a good point for an air conditioner to run at its optimal performance level. Taking your temperature even 4 degrees lower can make your air conditioner use up to 25% more energy!

Warmer at Night Is OK
During the night time hours, you don't require the same level of conscious cool. Try turning your AC down (so it is running less) during your sleep hours or an hour or two before bed.

Lighting
Paying attention to how much light you let in from open windows can also play a significant role; it makes a huge difference in how much heat your bought air is competing against.

Clothe your windows
Solar screens, or mesh-like window screens, intercept up to 70 percent of solar energy before it gets into the house.

Is Anyone Home?
If you can, while you're away turn your AC off and your fans on only. Sure it will be a little uncomfortable when you return but it will save you a lot when paying your bills.

Portable Fans:
Having a portable fan keeps the air regulating and helps in maintaining the desired temperature taking the stress of your air conditioner.
4. How am I billed for consumption charges?
Each individual user is charged the consumption charges based on the actual meter readings. You may calculate the difference between your last meter reading and current meter reading as it appears on your E Bills, the unit rate for consumption as approved by the regulatory is AED 0.568 per TRh and a fuel surcharge of AED 0.075 per TRh. A total of AED 0.643 per TRh.
5. What are the Capacity (Demand) charges??
This is a recurring annual charge, levied by for providing District Cooling Service to the Apartment/Unit, at the rate of AED 750 per Refrigeration Ton (RT) per annum, billed monthly in advance, based on the calendar months in a year and The RT load of the A/C of your unit.
6. What is E-Billing?
All Alpha registered customers need to sign-up for the E-billing to receive their monthly bills via sms and email. Registered customers can also login to their online account to view, pay or print their monthly bills as well. We are striving to become paperless and E-Billing is an initiative taken to achieve this objective. Please note E-billing service is available only to the customers registered with Alpha Utilities.
7. How can I register for E-Billing?
To register for E-Billing, Alpha registered customers can visit https://billing.alphautilities.co.ae/CustomerRegistration.aspx . In order to better understand on how to register online for E-billing please refer to our comprehensive PDF guide for the registration available on the sign up page that will also impart what all documents are required in order to register for E-Billing.
8. What’s the due date of my bill?
For the due date of your bills kindly always refer to the monthly bills you receive from Alpha Utilities via sms and email. The due date in general always remains 15th of every month.
9. I am using correct credentials yet I am unable to login to my account, what can I do?
Your account may be blocked due to non-payment of your bills. In the instance you have not paid your bills you are requested to please visit our walk in center to clear the outstanding in order to restore your online account. If you have paid your bills and are still unable to login, we request you to please take a screenshot of the error and send an email to info@alphautilities.co.ae. We will revert back to you within 24 working hours.
10. I want to pay my bills online, I am able to login into my account but my payment is getting declined or I am receiving an error when trying to pay my bills, what should I do?
Payment declined in usually due to your bank(s) security measures. We request you to get in touch with your bank and check the reason for payment getting declined. If all else is correct, kindly send a screen shot of the error to Info@alphautilities.co.ae before the due date.
11. How can I pay my bills?
Currently we have given the option of paying bills either by visiting our walk in center (Card Only), make payment online using your E-Billing account or transfer it to Alpha Utilities Management Services Bank Account. Below are the bank details.

Please note you need to send us an email once the bank transfer has been completed highlighting the apartment and tower so to allocate the payment against the correct account. We are working on developing an app that will enable you to check and pay your bills using mobile app. Stay tuned!!!

17. What is the new tariff?

Alpha utilities management services has changed in to its tariff structure as per the regulatory authorities.

Capacity Charges Tariff (AED\TR\yr.): 750

18. Is the new tariff approved by the regulatory authorities?

Yes, the updated tariff is the tariff approved by the regulatory authorities.

19. What is Fuel Surcharge Fees?

Pursuant to recommendation of the Supreme Council of Energy in Dubai and with effect from 01.01.2011, DEWA is authorized to increase the Tariff by 15% in each of existing slabs of electricity and water consumption. Accordingly, all District cooling companies correspondingly ensure that they transfer to their customers the tariff increase and actual Fuel Surcharge as notified by DEWA from time to time.

20. What is a connection charge?

This is a one-time charge payable by the new unit Owner and unit Tenant wherever applicable at the time of registration with Alpha Utilities Management Services LLC.

21. What is a billing service fee?

The billing service fees is the charges applied by a Billing Service Provider for the services provided and the same is approved by the regulatory authorities.

22. I wish to have the meter tested for accuracy. I believe the meter is not giving accurate readings. What can I do?

We strongly recommend that you visit our walk-in centre for such billing disputes so that we can probe and better understand the possibility of any inaccuracies in the meter readings or malfunction that may not be the case most of the times.

The reason for high bills is not only limited to meter inaccuracies or malfunction but may also be a result of a malfunction with the unit installed within the apartment. We also recommend that you refer to our section on how to save on consumption to reduce your bills. Should you be discontent with our clarifications Alpha Utilities conducts quarterly inspections so to ensure the accuracy of the meters.

If you are still not content with the response\resolution provided you have the right to request Meter’s accuracy to be tested, we shall procure that a calibration test is completed by an independent third party. If the Master Meter is found to perform within a 3% tolerance, the customer shall bear the expense of the test. Otherwise, the Alpha Utilities Management Services LLC shall be liable for the cost of such test.

23. Will I be refunded wrongly charged consumption should the meter testing fail?

Where a meter fails to accurately record Consumption, the Billing Service Provider may, for a maximum of two (2) billing cycles, use the Consumption of the Customer for the same month in the year prior to calculate a Consumption Charge. Where no such Consumption data is available, Consumption may be estimated based on the prior month.

24. What is a Late Payment Fees?

Should a customer fail to pay his bills for the previous month within the due date despite receiving timely reminders, The customer will be sent a reminder on the first day past the due date to clear the complete outstanding with in the following 7 calendar days. A further Notice will be issued informing the Customer that a late payment fee will be applied no less than three (3) working days from the date of the Notice unless the bill is settled.

For instance, past due date the customer will be sent a notification to clear their complete outstanding on 15th of every month to avoid late payment fees. Another notice will be issued to the customer on 18th of the same month as a final reminder. Should the customer fail to clear the total outstanding despite the reminders & notification, A late payment fees of AED 100 will be charged to the customers on the 22nd of the same month.

25. What happens if I do not pay my bills despite being charged a late payment fee?

A final Notice that services will be suspended is given 14 days after the due date to clear the complete outstanding. Most of the times it will be 28th Calendar Day of the month. Should the customer still fail to clear their outstanding the services to the apartment will be disrupted 72 hours after the final notification on the 28th of every month. i.e. on 31st of the same month or the 1 st of the following month. This is provided the total outstanding is more than the security deposit against their accounts.

26. How can I restore the services to the apartment if its suspended?

To have the services restored, a reconnection fees along with the complete outstanding against the account needs to be paid by the customer. Once the complete payment has been made Alpha Utilities Management Services LLC will restore the services to the apartment with in 24 hours from the time of the payment.
