What is VAT?
Value Added Tax (VAT) is an indirect tax that is being introduced by the UAE Government, which will be payable by both business and Individuals.
When will the VAT go into effect and what will be the rates?
VAT will be introduced across the UAE on 1 January 2018 at a standard rate of 5%
How will VAT apply to services provided by Alpha Utilities Management services?
VAT will apply to applicable services at a rate of 5%. Further details regarding VAT application on our products and services will be made available in the coming weeks.
Is it compulsory to pay VAT?
Exceptions to VAT are only by law, and these are published by the Federal Tax Authority. There is a possibility for corporate customers to claim back their VAT payments, provided they have registered for VAT and meet the requirements. How will Alpha Utilities Management Services charge VAT for customers?
From 1st January 2018, all services provided by Alpha Utilities Management Services shall have VAT applied upon the total outstanding for the month, in compliance with the provisions of the law and its Executive Regulations i.e. a Total payment due for a month that is AED 100 will become AED 105 ( Inclusive of 5% tax ).
I am a Business owner. I have registered with the UAE Federal Tax Authority and have received my certificate and Tax Registration Number (TRN). Do I need to share this with Alpha Utilities Management Services L.L.C?
Yes, once you receive your Tax registration number (TRN) you are required to send this to us. This is important for us to update your account details, and ensure that your TRN is reflected on our monthly tax invoice. The inclusion of your Tax Registration Number (TRN) on our bill is required for you to claim back the incurred VAT within your VAT return.

Are the tariffs subject to change?
Like any other utilities, Alpha Utilities charges are linked to the cost of inputs and general inflation index and are subject to revision.
How do I save on my bill?
To save energy, you can control your consumption by optimizing the setting of your thermostat, reducing cooling losses through your windows, doors, etc. and make sure you turn off the cooling when not required.
What happens if there are issues related to my cooling services?
Kindly visit our walk in center for service complaints if prompt response is required. Else, you may choose to drop an email at info@alphautilities.co.ae Please do not that our TAT for responding to any inquiries over the email is 24 business hours.
How am I billed for consumption charges?
You will be billed on actual basis, based on your metered consumption of cooling services.
How much Refrigeration Ton (RT)(Demand charge) am I paying for?
The RT of your unit is pre-determined by the Developer depending on your unit area and premise type.
What’s an eBill?
If you’re not currently paying bills online, you probably receive all of your bills in your mailbox at home. eBill is a service by Alpha Utilities that offers you the ability to receive the bill online at the website and you can print a copy of it as needed.
How do I pay an eBill?
Login to your online account using our website. You’ll find all the same information you’re used to seeing in your paper bills. Then, when you’re ready to pay, all you need to do is choose the amount and click to pay
How can I keep track of the bills I pay?
When you pay bills online, the service automatically creates a record of your payments that you can view at any time so you can check the status of your payment. The service actually keeps better records than you keep yourself and you have proof, unlike mailing a check.
What are the charges explanation?

The Alpha Utility’s Charges for District Cooling Service is as follows:

1. Consumption Charge:

“Capacity Charge” means the monthly fixed charge levied upon the Unit Owner/Tenant by Alpha Utilities L.L.C. for providing connectivity to the DCS which shall be calculated monthly on the basis of the total unit size.

2. Capacity Charge:

Capacity Charge” means the monthly fixed charge levied upon the Unit Owner/Tenant by Alpha Utilities L.L.C. for providing connectivity to the DCS which shall be calculated monthly on the basis of the total unit size.

3. Meter Maintenance:

This is charged quarterly at Dhs XX per 3 Months to cover the testing and maintenance of each meter installed in the unit. It is billed in the last month of each quarter i.e. the meter maintenance charge for the quarter of April to June 2011 is taken in the month of June, 2011.

4. Connection Charge:

One off fee to be paid by the First Owner to get the connection on which is different from the Refundable Security Deposit.

5. Administration Charge:

One off fee to be paid by the First Owner at the time of registration.

 

Registration Requirements

The Registration Procedure for registering for Alpha Utility’s District Cooling Service is as follows:

Documents Required for Registration for Tenant:

  • Tenancy Contract Copy
     
  • Passport Copy (if the tenancy contract is under a person)
     
  • Trade License Copy (if the tenancy contract is under a company)
     
  • Tenant’s Signature on the Customer Registration Form & Customer Agreement Form (if the tenancy contract is under a person)
     
  • Authorization Letter & Passport Copy of the Authorized Person in case a 3rd Party is signing on the Registration Forms on behalf of the tenant.
     
  • Refundable Security Deposit of AED 2,000.00
Documents Required for Registration for Owner:
  • Title Deed Copy or Proof of Ownership
     
  • Passport Copy (if the ownership is under a person)
     
  • Trade License Copy (if the ownership is under a company)
     
  • Company Stamp on the Alpha Utilities Customer Registration Form and Alpha Utilities Customer Agreement Form (if the ownership is under a company)
     
  • Owner’s Signature on the Alpha Utilities Customer Registration Form and Alpha Utilities Customer Agreement Form (if the ownership is under a person)
     
  • Power of Attorney & Passport Copy of the POA in case a 3rd Party is signing on behalf of the owner.
     
  • Refundable Security Deposit of AED XXX.XX
     
  • Connection Fee of AED XXX.XX
